In the heart of a bustling campus atmosphere, the CADE Building played host to an enlightening session featuring two remarkable artists. Her work draws inspiration from stock images and social media posts, reflecting modern life in innovative ways. Meanwhile, Amy Applegate, nearing completion of her master’s degree at Columbia University, presented her unique approach to painting everyday objects, creating harmonious pairings that challenge conventional perceptions.

The event came about through the efforts of Lindsay McCulloch, who championed Beavers' inclusion after dreaming of inviting her. Alongside Teddy Johnson, they crafted an engaging program that included not only a presentation but also a critique session involving AACC art students—a rare opportunity according to Johnson. Additionally, Matt Klos invited Applegate, believing her journey resonates with aspiring artists, offering them a glimpse into possible futures.

MiKayla French, a third-year student, found Applegate's meditative process fascinating, highlighting how it bridges observation and creation. This blend of experiences enriched attendees' understanding of diverse artistic methodologies.

From a journalistic standpoint, this gathering underscores the importance of mentorship and exposure in nurturing young talents. It inspires students to embrace challenges and seek opportunities beyond traditional boundaries, fostering growth and innovation within the art community.
