In the heart of California, Salinas is set to host two distinct events that promise a delightful mix of culinary delights and aviation excitement. The first event, Salinas Food & Fly In, offers a rare opportunity for enthusiasts to explore exotic cars and planes while learning more about aviation. Following this, What’s Grubbin, a vibrant food truck festival, will take over downtown Salinas with an array of gastronomic options accompanied by live music and a beer garden. Both events aim to bring together community members in a celebration of local culture and diversity.
On May 3rd, Salinas invites residents and visitors alike to partake in a day of unique experiences. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Salinas Airport becomes the stage for the inaugural Salinas Food & Fly In. This event showcases a collection of aircraft and luxury vehicles alongside educational opportunities about aviation programs. Organized by Jorge Casas, the event aims to highlight the diverse offerings at the airport. With over thirteen planes on display and thirty exotic cars, including a rare Italian supercar valued at several million dollars, there's plenty to captivate aviation and car enthusiasts.
Transitioning into the evening, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m., downtown Salinas transforms into a bustling hub of flavor and rhythm with What’s Grubbin. Featuring twenty-five food trucks offering a wide range of cuisines—from sushi to BBQ—this festival promises something for every palate. Founded by Orlando Osornio, the event also includes live performances by multiple DJs and bands, creating a lively atmosphere suitable for all ages. The success of its March debut has spurred organizers to enhance the setup with additional seating and maintain the same level of culinary diversity.
Both events are free to attend, providing an accessible avenue for community engagement and enjoyment.
These events underscore the importance of fostering community spirit through shared interests and cultural exploration. They demonstrate how bringing people together around food and technology can strengthen social bonds and promote local businesses. For both attendees and organizers, such gatherings offer valuable insights into the power of collaboration and creativity in enhancing communal life.
